# My agent is not responding: what to check first

If your agent has stopped responding to leads on WhatsApp, work through these checks in order before escalating.

1. Go to Agent > Channels & Integrations and confirm your WhatsApp number status shows Connected. If Disconnected, reconnect and test with a new message.
2. Go to Agent > General and confirm the agent is published (not in draft).
3. Verify your Meta Business Manager account has no pending notifications or restrictions.
4. Send a test message from a phone number that hasn't contacted your agent before. Existing conversations may need a template message to reopen the 24-hour window.
5. Check Leads > Conversations to confirm the message was received but not answered.

{% hint style="warning" %}
If your number shows a quality warning in Meta Business Manager, your messaging capacity may be restricted. See How to monitor your WhatsApp number health.
{% endhint %}

If none of these steps resolve the issue, contact Patagon support at <support@patagon.ai> with your account email and the phone number of the lead you tested with.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.patagon.ai/en/troubleshooting/agent-not-responding.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
